Another fantastic Slow Cooker recipe. So easy, so few ingredients, so delicious! This will be one to make when you are home trying to catch up on house work, laundry, homework or anything else other than food preparation.
Twenty minutes or less for prep work, then let the slow cooker do the rest. You'll be ready to eat in less than four hours.
This is SO simple.
First, heat up a large frying pan on medium/high heat. Drizzle just a bit of oil. Salt and Pepper both sides of the Chicken breasts and fry them up to 5 minutes on each side.
You want a golden crisp look.
While your chicken is frying, you can thinly
slice your onion and mince your garlic.
We like to turn our Slow cooker on High and basically heat up while we are doing all of this.
Now, you'll put your uncooked Pearled Barley in the slow cooker first, followed by the onions and garlic.
Pour the broth over all of this.
Your chicken should be ready by now. Place the chicken breasts on top.
Now you just place the lid on and cook on LOW for 2 1/2 hours.
We turn our Stove top timer on. So once that goes off after 2 1/2 hours, thats when we add
the peas and chopped parsley.
Gently stir them in. You want the peas to be covered enough to heat up.
Go ahead and turn off your slow cooker, place the lid back on and wait for maybe 10 to 15 minutes (if the peas were still semi-frozen).
That's it! Time to dig in. We hope you like this as much as we do. :0)
