Broccoli Pizza Crust Recipe

We LOVE pizza. So much that we keep trying to find more ways to make it without the guilt.  We've made cauliflower crust, chicken crust and different bread crusts.

Well, here we are again. This time with broccoli crust.  We know that some may not like this idea. They may not be broccoli fanatics like us, but, give it a try at least. You can change the taste with the seasonings you use and the toppings you put on it.

Knowing the health benefits of broccoli may change your mind. Here, take a look.

Broccoli is a great source of vitamins K and C, a good source of folate (folic acid) and also provides potassium, fiber. Vitamin C – builds collagen, which forms body tissue and bone, and helps cuts and wounds heal. Vitamin C is a powerful antioxidant and protects the body from damaging free radicals.

So, without further ado, let's make this!

  • Broccoli (3 large heads, makes approx. 6c./609g. riced)
  • 1c./88g. Low Fat Mozzarella Cheese (grated)
  • 4 large eggs
  • 1/2c./66g. Flour (of your choice)
  • 1 t. Salt
  • 1/2 t. Pepper
  • ( other seasoning of your choice to go with your choice of toppings)

First, you will want to preheat your oven to 400 degrees fahrenheit ( 204 celsius ).

Next you will "rice" the broccoli.  Cut off the thick stems, (we save ours for making our own broths). Cut the heads into chunks and drop into your blender or food processor. Blend it up until it looks like rice. That was easy!

Pour your riced broccoli into a large mixing bowl.  To that, add the cheese, eggs, flour and seasoning.  Mix it up well.

Place some parchment paper on your baking tray or pizza stone. Dump your broccoli mixture onto the parchment paper and form it into your round pizza crust.

Time to bake this.  Ovens vary due to climate, altitude or on how thick your crust is. So we suggest setting the timer at 15 minutes and checking it to see if you need to go longer. (today, our crust was thick, so it took almost 25 minutes)

You want it to be golden around the edges and starting to become golden on top.

Now, it's up to you on what you want to put onto your pizza. Today, we added black beans and salsa, onion, chicken, mushrooms, mozzarella cheese and some cilantro.

We baked it for another 15 minutes until the cheese was melted and bubbling.

Time to eat!

We hope you like this recipe as much as we do.  Until next time, enjoy!

This recipe it for the Broccoli Crust only.  We cut it into 8 slices and this breakdown is for one slice without toppings. You would need to add those in yourself, depending on what you use.
